Wetland Restoration
Wetlands are vital ecosystems that sustain biodiversity, provide habitats for resident and migratory birds, support wildlife, and underpin local livelihoods. Yet, encroachment, pollution, poaching, waste disposal, and habitat degradation increasingly threaten their ecological integrity.
MNCT’s wetland conservation efforts focus on Giddhi Lake (Kamal Sarovar) and Pushkarini Lake in Nalanda, important landscapes for biodiversity conservation, bird habitats, and community engagement.
We organise nature walks, biodiversity documentation, and cleanliness drives to connect people with these ecosystems and encourage active participation in their conservation. Through awareness programmes and community engagement, we work to address threats such as encroachment and poaching, promote habitat protection, and encourage responsible nature-based tourism that supports local livelihoods.
Our goal is to restore wetland health, protect vital habitats for wildlife, and build a lasting commitment to community-led conservation.
