About us
About Us
A non-governmental, non-profit conservation initiative. Reg. No. 41/01/2026. Working in Bihar and Jharkhand since 2014.
It started with a phone that kept ringing.
Magadh Nature Conservation Trust — मगध नेचर कंजर्वेशन ट्रस्ट — is a non-governmental, non-profit conservation trust based in Nalanda.
It began in 2014 as a group of students and amateur naturalists in Nalanda who were tired of watching rescued animals die for want of a phone number.
Since then the work has spread across Bihar and Jharkhand: community outreach and awareness, rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals, and capacity-building workshops for local communities, students and forest department frontline staff. It is still run by volunteers, and still funded in small amounts by people who live here.
We are not a research institute and we do not pretend to be. What we have is a district we know street by street, and a habit of writing down what we see.
